Dormans Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
We are pleased to present our Dormans Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Report, highlighting our commitment to sustainable practices and community engagement. At Dormans, we firmly believe that responsible business practices go hand in hand with our mission to provide high-quality coffee products. Through our CSR initiatives, we strive to make a positive impact on the environment, support local communities, and contribute to the well-being of society.
1. Collaborative Tree Planting and Watering Program:
In collaboration with Equity Group, Dormans actively participated in a reforestation initiative at Tatu City. Our dedicated team played a significant role in the planting of 700,000 indigenous seedlings, contributing to the preservation and restoration of our natural ecosystems. This initiative reflects our deep commitment to environmental sustainability.
2. Forest Challenge at Kereita Forest:
Dormans proudly joined the Forest Challenge held in the Aberdares, showcasing our unwavering support for environmental conservation efforts. By collaborating with other stakeholders, we emphasized the importance of protecting and preserving our forests and their invaluable biodiversity.
3. Digital Campaign by Fairtrade:
We actively participated in the Fairtrade #CountMeFair campaign, utilizing our digital platform to raise awareness about sustainable supply chains. Through this collaborative endeavor, we showcased our commitment to fair trade practices, supporting producer organizations, and making a positive impact on the lives of coffee farmers and their communities.
4. Support for Free Medical Camp:
Dormans demonstrated its commitment to community well-being by donating coffee for a free medical camp hosted by Membley Community Church in Ruiru. This initiative aimed to support access to healthcare services and enhance the well-being of the local community.
5. Partnership with Mount Kenya Trust (MKT):
We established a strategic partnership with MKT and proudly served as a platinum sponsor for the 10to4 mountain bike challenge. Through this collaboration, we actively contribute to the conservation of natural ecosystems, with a specific focus on preserving Mount Kenya’s rich biodiversity.
6. Support for Wings of Hope Rescue Home:
Dormans extended its support to Wings of Hope Rescue Home, a facility dedicated to rehabilitating vulnerable teenage girls. We donated various essential items, including beds, mattresses, foodstuff, and coffee, to create a nurturing environment for their personal growth and development. We also conducted life skill training with the girls to empower them.
7. Donation to Kenya Prisons Staff Training College:
We made a generous donation of coffee, soap, and sanitizers to the Kenya Prisons Staff Training College. Through this contribution, we aimed to empower the staff and students while fostering strong community connections and social well-being.
8. Sustainable packaging
Introduction of biodegradable coffee capsules was a commendable stride towards sustainability in the realm of single-use convenience. Designed from environmentally friendly materials that naturally break down over time, these capsules address the pervasive issue of non-biodegradable waste associated with traditional coffee pods. These capsules typically decompose into harmless components, lessening the burden on landfills and ecosystems. Embracing such eco-conscious choices not only preserves natural resources but also fosters a conscientious approach to daily rituals, emphasizing the interconnectedness of individual choices and the health of the planet.
9. Youth training platforms
In the dynamic landscape of the coffee sector, diversity and inclusion have emerged as pivotal drivers of positive change. Dormans recognizes the imperative to cultivate a more inclusive industry, not only in terms of gender and ethnicity but also in fostering a welcoming environment for diverse perspectives. Through targeted training programs for women and youth, empowerment we are providing young individuals with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in various facets of the coffee industry.
